Can we pretend that airplanes In the night sky Are like shooting stars I could really use a wish right now
My eyes fluttered open, and I sighed. Thunder rolled outside of my den, and I knew that the storm was here. I could hear the heavy rain drops plop onto the light cream sand. I ascended the slope to go to the outside of my den. My joints ached, because I went to sleep with my fur drenched in cold ocean water. As I set foot on the beach, cold rain pierced my fur down to my skin, which felt like teeth sinking deep into my skin with every drop. I looked out to the north, and I saw the light ebony clouds skimming the sky, dropping its rain like hopeless tears into the ocean.
I looked out to the east, and there were no clouds over there. Nice to know that the sun hasn't succumbed to the magnitude of the storm. I watched as the blue haze of the sky turn into a plethora of oranges, reds, and pinks as the sun greeted us with its presence. I turned my face back to the storm, when lightning flashed and struck the beach a few paw steps from where I was standing. I knew I had to do something soon.
A low sound rumbled in the pit of my stomach, which soon turned into a growl. The growl turned into a snarl, and the snarl turned into an angry, yet urgent howl. I had to get the pack out of here, and out of here quick. Though I was the only one awake, I knew that I would soon see the damp coats of the wolves in my pack. But what about Blaze? SHIT. Blaze might not be able to make the trip.
The rain began to gather in small ditches formed in the sand by crabs, and I was beginning to grow upset. If the territory flooded, and if we didn't get out in time, I knew that we would all perish in a watery grave. I was too young to die. So was Ash, Nia, Blaze, and Naro. We all had promising lives ahead of us. Naro would take years of wisdom with him, many of which I look to him for advice. I wasn't about to loose that.
Blaze hasn't even reached the stage of adult-hood. I hadn't found a mate, or had pups. Nia had a mate, but hadn't had pups. I couldn't let their lives perish. I had to lead them out of the territory, and make sure that they all survive. I waited for the pack to arise so that we can move out. I knew there were other wolves in the area, and I hope that they would shelter us until the storm passed.

I hear Defa's howl and I'm automatically awake. I crawl to the opening of our (ash and me) den. I see Defa standing in the storm. I walked out and head toward Defa. Every raindrop stung on my skin. By the time I reached Defa I was soked to the bone. I stood by Defa and let out a little yip to tell her I was there.

I jolted awake, my eyes snapping open and my muscles tensing. Then I realized what had awoken me, Defa's loud, angry howl. I heaved myself to my feet and padded to the entrance of the den. It was pouring rain outside, and I saw Defa and Nia standing in the rain. The rain splashed against the sand, the sea looked like it was boiling, the rain was pounding against the surface it sent small droplets of water rocketing into the air. I stepped out of the den, shivering as my downy pelt was immediatly soaked. I padded over to Defa and Nia. " Are we leaving?" I asked sadly, I hadn't been here that long, but if it meant certain death if we stayed, I was ready to go.

Someday soon, someday soon. Seasons were made for the change. You will be there. Just like the night to the day without a care. The dark goes before the dawn. Open up your eyes.
I slept restlessly through the night, having trouble finding peace when the wind screamed outside my new den. I had found an empty burrow on the side of the Sand Dune, just big enough for me to crawl into and curl up at the bottom of. The darkness was the only comfort, but being under ground was another of my sleeping troubles. I was used to sleeping amongst a pack, all of us curled up and at least brushing each other because we were so close. Yet it seemed the ways of this new land, of my new pack, were quite different. I had accepted that, and had not complained but merely decided to adapt. I awoke from my short hours of exhausted slumber to an angry howl outside. At least, I wasn't sure what had pulled me awake, and I stayed in my curled up position as I searched for the source. Yet in minutes, I could detect something was moving about on the Sand Dune, and I lifted my head as my ears strained forward to listen. It was impossible to hear anything of the wind and rain, which must have moved in sometime over the night. I suspected it was early morning, and so I swiveled my short muscular frame about to face the tunnel toward the surface. Taking a deep breath, I exhaled in a heavy sigh, and then wiggled my way to the outside world.
As my facade passed the overhang of the tunnel of my den, I was assaulted with heavy rain drops and fierce winds. I pulled myself fully out into the open, and had to squint against the harsh weather just to see. To my left, Defa, Nia, and Blaze were all sitting and facing the sea. I looked out myself to the dark azure waters, and felt my heart pound in anxiety. I had never lived near a large body of salt water, but now discovered that they were quite dangerous. The waves rolled and crashed against the shore, at least two wolf lengths higher than it was yesterday. Out in the actual water, the waves were reaching up to the sky, looking as if they battled one another for the right to exist. The sky was black, even darker than the night. I knew the Locust pack faced death if we stayed, and so I jogged over to my pack and halted behind my Alphess.
" We need to leave right now! We have waited too long already, my lady. Perhaps we can escape the worst of the storm if we make it to the forest before another hour has passed. "
My body was tensed, pelt soaked to the very skin and muscles straining to run. I had sworn to myself I would help Defa, to protect the pack, but this was suicidal. I took a few steps away from the group, facing the south hopefully. My bright sapphire gaze was full of worry for the lives of the wolves around me. I took another few hesitant paw steps, letting out a short bark to show I was going to leave if they continued sit for another minute.

I woke to the sound of Defa's low, angry growl. I hadn't got much sleep the last night because the den was a little to small and the rain fell on my muzzle. It made it almost impossible to sleep. I forced my body to get up and go to Nia's side. I got there just in time to hear Naro speak. Today definately wasn't my day and my voice sounded angry.
"I agree with Naro. If we stay here we all die a slow, wet death. And I'm almost positive nobody wants that. I suggest we go to the east into Thunder pack territory and hope that we can form an allience with them." I suggest still feeling grumpy.
My fur is flat and pressed to my body. It is dripping and getting very heavy so I shake it to get some of the water out. It helps a little but soon it is back where it was.

I shake the rain from my fur, and watch as my pack rises from a restless slumber. The storm was increasing in magnitude, and I knew that I had to get my pack out of here, and quick. I knew my way pretty well around the forest, but it will be hard to adapt for me, as I have lived in the coastal area longer than anyone else has. Blaze was right near me, and I listened to Ash's and Naro's words. We had to get out, and now. I snarled at the storm, silently cursing it. Why must this happen now? The pack was just beginning to form, and I was just beginning to learn the ways of a pack life.
Alright, listen up. We will head south until we find a place out of the storm. As it seemed, we may not have much time to get out. So, form your ranks behind me, and we will get out of here quickly.
I stood up straight, my tail and head held high. I looked down to Blaze, and picked him up by the scruff. The others would fall in behind me, and we will get out of here as soon as we can.
I waited for them to line up, and I dashed out of the territory quickly, heading south. The thunder above me sounded like the aching yowls of a dying wolf. The lightning struck a tree near me, and it crashed down in front of me. I skidded to a halt, and easily leaped over the burning log. The rain embedded itself into my fur which stung and made me wince in pain.
I hoped Blaze wasn't frightened or hurt, as I ran through the forest. My territory had to be coming to an end soon, and I was quite nervous as to what we might face ahead. The trees began to be emerald and deep brown blurs behind me. The pack should be keeping up, and as soon as we get to where ever we will end up, I will check everyone, to make sure that they are okay.
The only thing that worried me was that I remembered that Naro had a wound on his shoulder from a deer kicking him. I hoped that it wouldn't slow him down... My worst fears might come true when we enter this new pack's territory; they could be friendly, or hostile. I was hoping friendly, and that they wouldn't put up quite a fight.

I fell into my position on Defa's right and ran with her. The rain stung my eyes as we ran but i wasent going to give up. A loud crack sounded in my ears as lightning broke a large tree branch a few yards away. This is going to be rough someof us might not make it. I though to myself. I looked back to see if Ash and Naro we still with us.

I ran after them, not paying attention to anything but the obstacles in front of me. At first I fell behind Nia but caught up with her later. I kept running even though there was a burning tree before me. I leapt over it but didn't quite get enough air at first and burnt my front paws a little. I kept running even though my fur was making me heavier and my hind legs felt like they could collapse and my front paws stung with every leap I took. It was still raining and the thunder was still crashing.

Defa gently picked me up in her jaws, suspending me from the scruff on my neck. The freezing rain stung my tender skin, and I was soon soaked and freezing cold. "Defa? Can you please set me down? I can keep up! And I'm cold. I need some excercise to keep warm." I said, my teeth chattering. I heard thunder rumble overhead and winced, the storm sounded like it was picking up. I saw the leaves overhead light up as lightning flashed high above.

Someday soon, someday soon. Seasons were made for the change. You will be there. Just like the night to the day without a care. The dark goes before the dawn. Open up your eyes.
I watched Ash emerged from his and Nia's den, and then crossed over to stand at his mate's, the Beta female, side. I saw his maw moving, but could not hear his words over the roar of the winds and the slap of the rain hitting the already wet sand. Then I watched as Defa stood and shook her pelt free of sand, and then shout out the direction of our travels. Before I knew what was happening, my tall, flame colored Alpha female was dashing past me with Blaze in her jaws. Nia and Ash were on her flanks, running like the wind. I took one last devastating look into the storm, and then turned and leaped into a full out run.
I knew what it was like to flee for one's life. Then, I had been younger, my legs longer than my body, which had been so light and thin with young age. Now, my legs extended and retracted in fast, short strides as I pushed off and pulled the earth beneath me. I could see my pack ahead, just disappearing into deep, jade colored bushes. Trees with emerald hued leaves hung overhead as I ran beneath them, never looking over my shoulder. I had not been through this side of the Locust pack territory, but I liked it much more then the sandy part. I could already feel our pack's scent fading, and another's growing stronger. We were nearing the border of the Thunder pack.
Defa, still carrying Blaze, had slightly slowed within the trees of the forest. I soon caught up with her, Nia, and Ash. I stayed behind all of them, knowing my place in the pack. We were jogging now, and into a very risky situation. But our survival depended on it.
